Abyss is an international trade and export consultancy that helps architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms grow their businesses globally.

Founded in 2012 by Richard Nelson, after 20+ years doing international strategy and development for several major practices, we have worked with over a dozen AEC firms to date, helping them internationalise and grow their businesses.

From first principles, we guide clients through our proven methodologies toward achieving their international growth objectives.

It sounds simple, but it is definitely not easy – otherwise everyone would be doing it!

The Name

— Lou Mannheim (played by actor Hal Holbrook, left) giving Bud Fox (played Charlie Sheen, right) some profound words of wisdom, just before Bud is arrested for insider trading in the 1987 movie Wall Street, one of our founder’s favorite films.
